For more than 30 years the golf course Costa Teguise Golf is the first destination for the experienced golfer on Lanzarote. The course, designed and build in 1978 by British born John Harris, is most impressive with its different fairways, fantastic climate conditions throughout the whole year and with the contrast between volcanic landscape and broad vegetation.
Decorated with more then 3500 palm trees the golf course offers a very special experience for the
beginner as well as professional golfer. The 18 Fairways have a design that urges the player to use all the variations of the game, a real challenge even for professionals. The features of Costa Teguise Golf offer everything that you’d expect from a first class golf course: Driving Range, Putting Green, Pitch & Put, locker rooms, equipment rental, a professional golf shop, club house with Cafeteria/Bar and also the top class restaurant Getaria.
The course with 18 holes and par 72 was described by professional golfer Severiano Ballesteros as “the best designed course on the Canary Islands” and has some unique and incomparable characteristics e.g. bunkers made of volcanic picón instead of sand,a light breeze from the sea creating challenging conditions and magnificent views of the landscape make the game a sporting and pleasurable experience.In 2010 the Spanish golf championships were celebrated here with the presence of the best European golfers.
During an Interview with the director of the golf course, Jaime Canomanuel tells us about the plans to convert the golf Course into a multifunctional sports centre. Next to the already existing paddel courts a new course around the complex will be built as a training facillity for runners and cyclists. Also a covered swimming pool, a hockey field, a gym and other sports facillities will be included in the near future.
Many of the existing golfers at the Costa Teguise course return frequently to improve their game.The demanding design makes the use of all clubs and techniques necessary and the fantastic climatic conditions allow the game to be played here the whole year through, unlike most other European courses.
